The Special Education Department at Central Union High School District is dedicated to the Success and Well-being of our youth
Our vision is to assure our students develop the essential skills, abilities, and knowledge to become college and/or career ready, by providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment conductive to the growth and learning of ALL students.
Special education is Specially Designed Instruction, Support, and Services which is provided to students with a disability who require an individualized education program to meet their unique learning needs.
The purpose of special education is to enable students to succeed academically by providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE); ensuring equitable access to the general education curriculum by providing services, accommodations, and supports within the general education classroom.
Our program is designed to meet the emotional, social, behavioral, physical, and academic needs of every student - affording equal opportunities to succeed while at school and preparing them for post-secondary life.
